About

The brainchild of the Azores born entrepreneurs Teresa Bettencourt, fashion designer and Carlos Elavai, business manager, Manjerica is a luxury brand of leather handbags characterized by unique combinations of shapes, textures and colours.

For women who like to feel special and elegant, create their own style and know how to add a distinctive touch of glamour to their look.

Design is at the heart of Manjerica’s handbags. The colour, the shape, the high quality materials, the functionality and the style combine to create a unique product, entirely thought out to the smallest detail. All products are made of genuine leather, manufactured in a Portuguese workshop by expert craftsmen, according to traditional techniques. Manjerica’s bags are handmade, resulting in exclusive objects of desire.

Constantly pursuing the highest standards of quality and aesthetics, Manjerica embodies a luxurious and bold style, always with the goal of making each woman an icon of sophistication and originality.

Design at Manjerica

Teresa Bettencourt is head of design at Manjerica.

Teresa Bettencourt was born and raised in Angra do Heroísmo, the beautiful Azores islands. She studied Fashion Design at the University of Architecture of Lisbon where one of her last semesters was spent at the Federal University of Ceará, in Brazil, which contributed to a new perspective on the fashion industry.

After graduating, she decided not to follow her studies with a master's degree and instead was soon involved in a more hands-on approach to her field, doing an internship at the renowned fashion designer Alexandra Moura’s studio, participating in the creation of the 2010/11 Fall/Winter collection, presented at Moda Lisboa.

Currently Teresa is dedicated full time to Manjerica as head fashion and communication designer, where she also manages relationships with suppliers and stores.
